Benin-Failed TCN 60MVA Power Transformer

The main cause of the power outage in major areas in Benin
It has become a huge talk on the electricity problem in Benin since the outage problem since November 7, A lot of Negative report has been told to the people of Benin concerning the outage which is not good, painting the BEDC ELECTRICITY COMPANY BAD.
A writer @360media A media Agency reached out to the BEDC on Monday, Dec/2018. And gathered the challenges and solutions.
What caused the outage?
As you are aware, we are presently experiencing disruption in power supply to some areas in Benin City caused by the recent failed 60MVApower transformer T23 used by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to wheel electricity to major feeders in Benin City. This has affected customers in Evbuotubu, Oliha , Uwelu, Ikpoba dam, Okhoro, Upper Lawani and part of GRA ( Oko and Irhirhi Areas) where there has been total blackout while Upper Sokponba, Nekpenekpen, Idogbo, Ekae, Andrew Wilson, some areas of GRA, Etete and Ugbowo are just getting partial services.
The disruption which occurred on November 7, 2018 was caused when BEDC maintenance crew was carrying out maintenance on close to the substation, this resulted to a branch of a tree falling and causing damages to the T21 60MVA, 132/33Kv transformer. As a result there were a mass outage of some major areas in Benin city.
Did BEDC acted on it ?
Yes they did,
As a stop gap, arrangement was made to connect most of the customers on the affected feeders to existing functional ones in a manner that would not overload the system. This is providing supply albeit on limited basis, pending when normal supply will resume after the replacement or the repairs of the transformer by TCN. Several announcements have been made on locations affected. We expect normalizing of the situation soonest.
ONGOING SOLUTION
BEDC told 360media that ongoing efforts has been put in place, as this is coming on the heels of the on-going preparation for the movement of a replacement transformer by the TCN from Irrua, Edo state to Benin to tackle the power outage affecting some parts of the metropolis.

Do You Know What The White Or Black Stripes On Your Earpiece Jack do ?

Do you know what the white or black stripes on your headphones or earpiece jack do ? These mostly are on the jack that enter into your smartphone or music devices. Mostly they are white or dark rings that might look like something meant for decoration. They serve the purpose of protecting the wire that transmits sound to the headphones or earpiece. They are usually two to three rings, one for the left headphone/earpiece and the other for the right and the last is neutral. In order words, those stripes act as insulators, each one of the white or black band is a contact for a certain wire. One will be left speaker, one will be right speaker, one will be the microphone, and one will be the ground wire. The stripes keep the wires insulated from one another. http://www.infinix.club/ng/forum/687/967946
